We have had over 100 mm’s of rain in the last week and the bush has come alive after appearing dormant.  Overnight the entire bush has been covered in a green haze, with beautiful wild flowers breaking the emerald plains.  Spring reminds us that the dry earth will not last forever.  The new flowers are an indicator that life is growing, more rains will come and lush green grass will once again grace the plains.  New shoots are sprouting everywhere, and the almost audible sound of impending life echoes through the Bushveld, with the scent of the coming rains hanging heavily in the air.

Spring is one of the best times of the year in the bush.  The weather is still cool at night but warm in the daytime.  Our game viewing has been exceptionally good in the last few weeks.  On one game drive our guests had the pleasure of viewing a breeding herd of elephants, buffaloes and the lion pride lazing in the shade.  Our guests were also lucky to see our two big male lions fighting over a warthog.  Hunger made tempers flare and the two brothers had a massive fight, even bumping into our game viewer a few times.  We also had a rare and spectacular leopard sighting outside Billy’s Lodge.  In awe, we were able to watch this elusive creature of the night for a few hours from the camp.

We have had some lovely guest comments lately:

“Our stay at Ezulwini was just perfect! The rooms were beautiful, the food delicious and the Staff made you feel like family not just a guest! I would definitely recommend Ezulwini to anyone looking for a Safari experience with all the comforts of home!”

“We had an amazing holiday at Ezulwini Lodge. The staff (Kim, Amy and Dave) are absolutely brilliant - very professional, yet they still felt like friends by the end of the trip. The lodge is lovely - beautiful room, and lovely relaxing / socializing / eating facilities. You're right by the river, so Bush Walks down there are beautiful. Dave is a great Field Guide - extremely knowledgeable, and got us interested in animals we wouldn't have otherwise been into, simply through his own enthusiasm and knowledge!”

“Had such a great time! Really sad to leave, thank you for such an amazing experience. Food, staff and game drives were lovely - trip of a life time!”

Knowing that our guests leave us pleased, and depart with a greater appreciation for nature, makes everything we do worthwhile.

“My beloved Africa, the fauna, flora, sounds and smells which you will hold in your memory for years to come”. Katie Lee
